Tupras, Turkey's largest industrial company in oil derivatives, operates four key facilities with a combined capacity to process 28 million tonnes of crude oil annually. As part of its modernization plan for the Izmit refinery, Tupras aimed to increase the capacity to process heavier crudes and meet EU environmental standards.
Partnering with THALES and Yokogawa, Kubernesys was selected to integrate cutting-edge surveillance, access control, and emission monitoring systems. This integration ensured top-tier safety and compliance at the heart of the refinery.
Challenge
Tupras required a sophisticated, integrated security solution to manage the complex modernization of its Izmit refinery. This involved linking new surveillance systems with the existing infrastructure, aiming for comprehensive security coverage across the plant. The solution also needed to ensure compliance with stringent environmental standards.
The technical challenges included real-time monitoring of critical areas, integrating video surveillance with emission monitoring systems, and accurately prioritizing alarms to handle multiple alerts.
